IMAX®
is the most sophisticated and powerful motion picture projection
system in the world, providing super sized 15 perforation / 70mm
2D and 3D images of exceptional audio and visual quality, making
viewers feel as if they are literally 'part of the action'. More
than 500 million people have seen an IMAX® presentation since the
medium premiered in 1970.
To show 3D films, the projector simultaneously projects images
from two film reels. It does this via polarised lenses that focus
the separate left-eye and right-eye images of the 2 separate strips
of film onto the giant IMAX® screen. Audience members wear polarised
glasses that have the same alignment in each lens, as does the corresponding
'eye' of the projector.
IMAX® cinemas feature a patented digital audio technology with
advanced circuits designed specifically to enhance sound clarity
and depth of sound reproduction. Sheridan IMAX® cinema has a
12 000 watt sound system, which is delivered through 40 speakers
in 11 clusters.
Only specially designed and visually stunning 15/70 films playing
at IMAX® theatres can immerse you in undersea worlds, float you weightlessly
in outer space, put you front row at a rock concert or let you inhabit
the realms of 3D animated characters.
Utilising the largest film frame in motion picture history to project
crystal clear images onto giant screens up to eight stories high
and the most advanced digital surround sound system, the ultimate
film experience is only available at IMAX® theatres.
